Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 fresh figs, halved
  • 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Fresh thyme or mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

1️⃣ Caramelize the figs: Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter. Add the halved figs, cut-side down, and drizzle with honey or sprinkle with brown sugar. Cook for 2–3 minutes until caramelized and golden. Remove from heat and set aside.

2️⃣ Prepare the whipped ricotta: In a mixing bowl or food processor, whip the ricotta, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth and creamy. Adjust sweetness with a touch of honey, if desired.

3️⃣ Assemble the dish: Spread the whipped ricotta on a serving platter or individual plates. Arrange the caramelized figs on top.

4️⃣ Garnish with orange zest: Grate fresh orange zest over the figs and ricotta for a burst of citrus flavor.

5️⃣ Serve and enjoy: Garnish with thyme or mint leaves for an herbal touch. Serve warm as a dessert or appetizer.

Notes

  • Use mascarpone instead of ricotta for a richer flavor.
  • Add a drizzle of balsamic glaze for a tangy contrast to the sweetness.
  • Pair with a crusty baguette or crackers for a delightful appetizer.
