Ingredients

Scale

For the Pastries:

  • 1 package (2 sheets) puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 cup cherry pie filling
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2️⃣ Prepare the puff pastry: Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into 4 equal squares for a total of 8 pastries.

3️⃣ Shape the pastries: Take each square and fold the edges inward to create a border. Press lightly to seal the edges. Place the squares onto the prepared baking sheet.

4️⃣ Add the filling: Spoon about 2 tablespoons of cherry pie filling into the center of each pastry square, spreading it within the border.

5️⃣ Brush with egg wash: Lightly brush the edges of the puff pastry with the beaten egg for a golden, glossy finish.

6️⃣ Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 18–20 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed and golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.

7️⃣ Make the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more milk if needed.

8️⃣ Drizzle and serve: Drizzle the glaze over the cooled pastries and serve. Enjoy these flaky, fruity delights fresh out of the oven!

Notes

  • For a homemade touch, swap cherry pie filling with fresh cherries cooked with sugar and cornstarch.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days and reheat in the oven to crisp them back up.
  • Experiment with other fillings like blueberry, apple, or cream cheese.
