- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons sour cream
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 oz smoked salmon, thinly sliced
- Fresh dill, chopped (for garnish)
- 1/2 tablespoon capers (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Prepare the pastry: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Unroll the puff pastry sheet and cut it into small squares (about 3×3 inches). Press each square into the cups of a mini muffin tin to form little pastry cups.
- Bake the cups: Bake the pastry squares for 10-12 minutes, or until golden and puffed. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly while you prepare the filling.
- Make the filling: In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, lemon zest, and garlic powder. Mix until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Assemble the cups: Spoon a small amount of the cream cheese mixture into each baked pastry cup, smoothing the tops with the back of the spoon.
- Add the smoked salmon: Gently fold the smoked salmon slices and place a piece on top of each filled pastry cup.
- Garnish and serve: Garnish with chopped fresh dill, and if desired, top with a few capers for extra flavor. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.
Notes
- If you’re short on time, you can use pre-made mini tart shells instead of puff pastry.
- You can substitute the sour cream with Greek yogurt for a lighter option.
- For extra festive flair, garnish with a few small pieces of caviar or finely sliced radishes.
- These cups can be made in advance and stored in the fridge for a few hours before serving.
