Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large egg whites (room temperature)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Green gel food coloring
  • Holiday sprinkles, edible pearls, or red candies for decoration

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 200°F (95°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Whip Egg Whites:
    • In a clean, dry bowl, beat the egg whites with a hand or stand mixer on medium speed until frothy.
    • Add the cream of tartar and continue to whip until soft peaks form.
  • Add Sugar Gradually:
    • Increase the mixer speed to high and add sugar one tablespoon at a time, beating well after each addition. Continue until stiff, glossy peaks form and the sugar is fully dissolved.
  • Flavor and Color:
    • Beat in the vanilla extract.
    • Add green gel food coloring a small amount at a time, mixing until the desired shade of green is achieved.
  • Pipe the Wreaths:
    • Transfer the meringue mixture to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
    • Pipe small wreath shapes onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving a hole in the center.
  • Decorate:
    • Add holiday sprinkles, edible pearls, or small red candies to mimic berries on a wreath.
  • Bake and Dry:
    • Bake the meringues in the preheated oven for 90 minutes. Turn off the oven and let the meringues cool inside for at least 1 hour to dry completely.
  • Serve or Store:
    • Once cooled, gently remove the meringues from the parchment paper. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.

Notes

  • No Gel Coloring? Use liquid food coloring, but add sparingly to avoid thinning the meringue.
  • Room Temperature Eggs: Ensure your egg whites are at room temperature for the best volume.
  • Piping Alternative: Use a spoon to shape the meringue if you don’t have a piping bag.
