Delicious Garlic Butter Pasta Recipe

Garlic Butter Pasta is a quick and flavorful dish that’s perfect for busy weeknights or as a delicious side. The combination of tender pasta coated in a rich, garlicky butter sauce is simple, comforting, and irresistibly tasty.

  • 12 oz spaghetti or your preferred pasta
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup pasta cooking water (reserved from boiling the pasta)

Instructions

  • Cook the Pasta:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Before draining, reserve 1/4 cup of pasta cooking water. Drain the pasta and set aside.
  • Prepare the Garlic Butter Sauce:
    • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring constantly, until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  • Combine Pasta and Sauce:
    • Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat in the garlic butter. If the sauce seems too thick, add a bit of the reserved pasta water to loosen it up and create a creamy texture.
  • Season and Finish:
    • Stir in the Parmesan cheese, fresh parsley, and red pepper flakes (if using). Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Serve:
    • Serve immediately, garnished with more Parmesan and parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Add Protein: For a heartier meal, add grilled chicken, shrimp, or sautéed mushrooms.
  • Make It Creamy: Stir in a splash of heavy cream or cream cheese for a creamy garlic butter pasta.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet over low heat with a splash of water or broth.
