Ingredients

Scale

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground turkey (lean or extra lean)
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (or almond flour for a gluten-free option)
  • 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried dill)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Zest of 1 lemon

For Serving (Optional):

  • Tzatziki sauce
  • Warm pita bread or naan
  • Fresh Greek salad (cucumber, tomato, red onion, olives, and feta)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Make the Meatball Mixture:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, feta cheese, egg, garlic, parsley, dill, oregano, cumin, salt, pepper, and lemon zest.
    • Mix gently with your hands or a spoon until just combined. Avoid overmixing, as it can make the meatballs tough.
  3. Form the Meatballs:
    • Use a cookie scoop or your hands to form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs (about 20-24 meatballs).
    • Place the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly.
  4. Bake the Meatballs:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the meatballs are golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/74°C).
  5. Serve:
    • Serve the Greek Turkey Meatballs warm with tzatziki sauce, pita bread, or over a fresh Greek salad. Garnish with additional parsley or dill if desired.

Notes

  • Pan-Frying Option: You can also cook the meatballs in a skillet over medium heat with a bit of olive oil for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and fully cooked.
  • Meal Prep Friendly: Store cooked meatballs in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.
  • Dairy-Free Option: Skip the feta cheese and add 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast for a cheesy flavor without dairy.
