Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb thinly sliced beef steak (ribeye or sirloin)
  • 1 green bell pepper (thinly sliced)
  • 1 onion (thinly sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 lb pizza dough
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup provolone cheese (shredded or sliced)
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
  • Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the filling: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced beef, bell pepper, and onion. Sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Sauté until the beef is cooked through and the vegetables are tender. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

2️⃣ Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

3️⃣ Roll out the dough: On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, approximately 12×16 inches.

4️⃣ Assemble the stromboli: Spread the cooked beef, peppers, and onions evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges. Sprinkle mozzarella and provolone cheese over the top.

5️⃣ Roll and seal: Starting with one long side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seams and ends to seal. Place the stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.

6️⃣ Brush with egg wash: Brush the stromboli with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.

7️⃣ Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and crispy.

8️⃣ Slice and serve: Let the stromboli cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with marinara sauce for dipping and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add sliced mushrooms or jalapeños to the filling.
  • Substitute mozzarella with Monterey Jack or pepper jack for a spicier twist.
  • This stromboli can be made ahead and reheated in the oven before serving.
