- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let sit for 5-10 minutes until the yeast becomes bubbly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and melted butter. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Shape the Bread:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 6 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball.
- Place one ball in the center of a greased baking sheet. Arrange the other five balls around it, creating a flower-like shape. Leave a small gap between each ball.
- Gently press each ball down with your fingers, then make small cuts along the sides to form the “snowflake” shape.
- Add the Cheese:
- Make a small pocket in the center of each dough ball. Fill each pocket with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Brush the top of the dough with a beaten egg and sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top.
- Bake the Bread:
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. The cheese should be melted and bubbling inside the bread.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
- Serve and Enjoy:
- Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired. Serve warm as an appetizer, snack, or side dish.
Notes
- Feel free to use other types of cheese, such as cheddar or Gouda, for a different flavor.
- This bread is best enjoyed fresh out of the oven, but you can store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
- For extra flavor, try adding garlic butter on top before serving.
